Bill Smith

Bill is an ultrasound specialist recognised worldwide for his work in key areas of gynaecology, infertility and pregnancy care.  He is regarded as a pioneer in the introduction of 2D and 3D transvaginal ultrasound scanning which has had such a major impact on clinical gynaecology and especially reproductive medicine.  Bill has considerable expertise in first-line fertility management and ovulation cycle monitoring.  He is a leader in expanding the role of ultrasound in the investigation and treatment of infertility. Scanning technology which he has been very involved in developing has had a major positive effect both in terms of a more natural, less invasive approach to fertility managements as well as IVF itself.  He continues to promote advanced ultrasound imaging as an essential part of women’s healthcare generally with special interest in additional areas such as ovarian and breast screening, HRT monitoring and, in particular, functional issues of the pelvis and associated gynaecological disorders.  He is head of Clinical Diagnostic Services (CDS) which combines modern ultrasound imaging technology with direct access to a team of established clinical consultants and integrated healthcare professionals.  Continuity of care as well as patient reassurance and support remain a priority at CDS..
