Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
We wouldn’t be where we are now if it wasn’t for you. You lit up my life and brought back my smile (Age 14)
What’s that word again, when you feel what others feel? You are really empathetic (Age 12)
I have been working in schools for the past 6 years after training at the Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education (IATE) as an Integrated Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. Currently I work in a primary school and also provide private (in person or online) sessions depending on the age of the individual and Covid-19 protocols.
The Pandemic has brought serious challenges to teens, children, carers and parents. Depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss and divorce are shared across age groups. Teenagers bring to therapy particular issues such as sexuality, identity, risky behaviour, self-harm, exam stress and friendship difficulties. Discordant behaviour such as explosive rage, sibling rivalry, sleep disturbances and rebellion characterise the ways internal stress manifest amongst children.
I am awed and surprised by how online therapeutic work can be holding and effective, particularly with teens.
I can support you: Parent coaching sessions, Individual child and adolescent sessions, parent-child sessions and 30 minute first aid.
